Feock Health & Wellbeing

The Parish Council is looking at ways in which we can facilitate the bringing together of people and offering new opportunities for people to want to get out and about. Not only is this good for our health and wellbeing but there are lots of things going on and many interesting things to see on our doorstep.

We have recently introduced self guided footpath trails leaflets still available from Parish Office or alternatively you can download them here but due to recent wet weather the paths may be rather muddy. But we have several much drier paths. The Devoran tramway will take you from Point Quay to Devoran Quay from which you will see many tantalising views of the water.

At this time of year, and at the right state of the tide, you will see amazing numbers of curlew, godwit and redshank. And in Feock village there is the Trelissick estate with its carriage way from the Lodge to the House. This winter the churchyards have been attractive to birdwatchers too. Rare sightings of hawfinch have been regularly made together with bullfinch, chaffinch, goldfinch and the occasional goldcrest and firecrest.

Lunch clubs are now offering an opportunity for convivial meeting with friends and neighbours ( and as one resident said at a recent Devoran lunch new friends as well!).

There are clubs in Carnon Downs, Feock and most recently Devoran. The Feock Transport Scheme can be used to bring residents who do not have transport to these lunches so people do not need to feel excluded by lack of a car. To book phone 07904 547822.

The Parish Council has now set up a Health and Well Being Working Group which is looking at new ways of improving the well being of local people. The aim is to provide opportunities for connecting people and to assess ways of improving facilities in the Parish which will enhance community.
