Carnon Downs & Feock defibrillator launches

The official launches of the new community defibrillators in Carnon Downs and Feock were held on Tuesday 20th March. Residents braved the rain in Carnon Downs with youngsters and parents from Sunbeams Toddler Group, Carnon Downs Film Club, Truro Lions and Parish Councillors Bob Richards, Iain MacDonald and Caroline Johnson attending the ceremony on Forth Coth to officially launch the defibrillator which is situated in the red phonebox which the Parish Council have recently adopted from BT, outside of the Dentists. Devoran Highways 20mph zone consultation now open

The Cornwall Council 3 week consultation period for the implementation of a 20mph zone in Devoran village starts today and ends on 6th April. Documents showing the detail of the scheme are available to view in the Parish Council office in Market Street, Devoran. Carnon Downs now has a defibrillator

The community defibrillator has now been installed in the phonebox on Forth Coth (outside of the dentist) in Carnon Downs. The defibrillator is portable and can be used by anyone, it will not allow a shock to be delivered if a persons heart is not in the correct rhythm for shocking so please do not be afraid to use it in an emergency. Huge thanks to Carnon Downs Film Club, Truro Lions Club, Sunbeams Playgroup and the British Heart Foundation for their contributions towards the defibrillator and cabinet. Emergency plan co-ordinators needed!

The Parish Council will be assisting in the development of Community Emergency Plans for each village within the parish. These plans come into effect in the event of a major emergency, such as heavy snowfall, flooding, a major fire, or the closure of the A39 due to a major accident. The plans are an initial ‘first aid’ response before outside assistance arrives, the plans will contain an audit of hazards (such as industrial sites within the parish), resources and skills in the local community (ie. rest/shelter centres (generally Churches/village halls) GPs, vets, people with 4x4's, tractors, chainsaw certificates etc.) and is a plan of who is available to help in the event of an emergency.

Parish Council Precept 2017/18

The Parish Council will be raising its precept for the year 2017/18, this will equate to an increase of £3.80 per year on a Band D property, or just over a 1p a day. The overall Parish Council bill for a band D property for the year will be £56.28. Due to services increasingly being devolved from Cornwall Council to the Parish Councils, for example highways improvements, the Parish Council felt they had no option but to increase the precept to ensure they could deliver the improvements that residents are requesting.
