A REPLACEMENT GATE FOR "CARNON GATE"
It has been agreed by the Parish Council, that with the financial help of local organisations such as the Restronguet Creek Society and the Devoran Quay Association, the historic monument "Carnon Gate" situated at the entrance to Greenbank Road, Devoran, will be replaced sometime in February/March 2009 at a cost in excess of £1,000.
Local residents will be aware that the current gate has fallen into extreme disrepair and is in need of replacement. It is hoped to lift the new gate sufficiently away from the the raised pavement in order to be able to "ceremonially" open it from time to time. The Council have also agreed to maintain the gate in the future as part of its continued repairs and maintenance policy covering all its assets.
